Unemployment up in 28 states in June
Washington Post, 22 July--Unemployment rates rose in 28 states and the District in June, the Labor Department announced in a report Friday. The U.S. unemployment rate is now 9.2 percent.The unemployment rate for the District surpassed the national rate, rising to 10.4 percent. In Maryland, the rate rose to 7 percent; Virginia has a 6 percent unemployment rate.
The report also highlighted that Virginia lost 14,600 jobs in June.
Only eight states saw rates decline in June,
